Canadian Certified Counsellor

Registered Dietitian

I associate specific types of cookies with each of my grandmothers. And I think it is really cool that food has the ability to translate love and care into a yummy experience!

But, I didn’t alway think that way. My own relationship with food was complicated for much of my life. Even though I grew up in a home that was pretty neutral around food messaging, diet culture has a way of seeping its way into our minds and creating guilt where it did not exist before.

Interestingly, becoming a dietitian helped me realize food is about so much more than energy and nutrients, and it does not exist for us to modify our bodies!

Food is love. Food is joy. Food is comfort… in addition to nourishment.

After many years as a dietitian, I learned there is a whole lot more beneath the surface that I wanted to be able to offer. I wanted to be able to dive deeper into the relationship between food and emotions, trauma and eating. This is when I decided to become a therapist.

Bridging together the worlds of mental health and nutrition, I love getting to support people in healing their relationship with food and learning to trust themselves.

In addition to supporting people with their relationship to food, I also love working with other vegans and animal advocates with their wellness and mental health.

In my free time, I enjoy learning how to make things (sewing, crocheting, crafting), experimenting with growing and preserving food, and taking care of my cats and dog. In addition to taking care of my resident cats, I also have a rotation of foster cats that hang out at my house until they get adopted.
